It was time to have a sleep over at the Girls’ place, and after a couple of brewskis, it was also time to order dinner. We decided on Mr. Natural Pizza, because they make healthy, gourmet vegetarian pizzas with the option of vegan cheese, but also because we wanted to order them last time but they were closed. Tonight however, they were ready to deliver!
The three pizzas we ordered were:
The Margarita: tomato base with olive and onion, topped with cheese, fresh tomato, parsley and herbs. We ordered half normal cheese, half vegan cheese.
This was my favourite. I got a slice with normal cheese and it was moist and juicy and full of flavour. The olives and onion were an excellent, savoury addition, and the base was perfectly cooked, with no soggy bits.
The Bezalya: tomato base with steamed potato, olives, onion, feta and capsicum, with some satay sauce, cheese, roasted pumpkin, fresh tomato, parsley, herbs, sesame seeds and a drizzle of garlic oil.
What a kooky combination. The potato and pumpkin gave each bite a full, hearty texture, the feta gave it the edge and zing, and the satay sauce was the secret present, the unexpected gift. A great winter pizza.
The Eggplant: tomato base with mushroom, olives, feta and onions, topped with cheese, roasted eggplant, fresh tomato, parsley, herbs, sesame seeds and a drizzle of garlic oil.
I’m not a huge fan of eggplant so it wasn’t really my cup of tea, but still an interesting combination of flavours. The sesame seeds are a great touch, and it wasn’t a cheesy mess. Light but substantial. I don’t know what else to say.
I wish we had a Mr Natural Pizza near our house. Vegetarian pizzas with so much flavour and variety, especially after the Christmas meat binge, is so refreshing and cleansing, sometimes having something with meat seems tedious. Until they open a shop in Reservoir, we’ll just have to keep having sleep overs at the Girls’ place.
